Early Sunday morning, Nathan woke up crying. I went in to see what the matter was and...he was fine. After sitting with him for around 30 minutes, he started smiling and trying to engage me in being awake. I gave him a kiss, made sure he had his animals and blankie, and left to go back to sleep. He was crying, of course, and then...CRASH! I was in going to the bathroom when this happened, and then I heard the sound of him padding into our room. "What in the world?" is all I could think. Around the corner came Nathan, crying, and head gushing blood! Enter hysterical mommy... John woke up and got Nathan to assess the problem and try and stop the bleeding. Meanwhile, hysterical mommy... After about 10 minutes, the bleeding slowed but the gash was pretty gnarly looking. We called the advice nurse and she advised us to go to the ER. And off we went. He ended up having to get 2 stitches but he was such a trooper! He cried, but only because of the new environment and having to be strapped onto the papoose board. The stitches come out tomorrow and then we'll see if there will be a manly scar for him to brag about to his friends.
Since he either climbed or fell out of the crib, John thought it would be a good idea to convert his crib into a toddler bed. This involved taking the front panel of slats off and lowering the mattress. Voila! Big boy bed! Nathan's adjusted to that pretty well, too. Yes, he can just get out whenever he wants to now, but so far it hasn't been too bad.
